Being able to take a leave of absence at work can be very handy. In this economy, you do not want to lose or walk away from a paying position simply because you need an extended period of time off. Calling out repeatedly due to things coming up in your life can become getting you dismissed from your job if you are not careful. This is where a leave of absence can come in very handy.

Reason One

Taking care of a sick relative. Many people will try to care for a sick relative while still doing their job every day. This can lead to time and work conditions that may negatively reflect on your record. It could even lead to you being let go. You can ask your employer for a leave of absence for this reason. Reason Two

Your own health is something that needs to be looked at and taken care of. When health issues pop up, you need to be able to take care of them. Reason Three

Raising your family should come before money. If you can pay the bills and settle the debts, you may want to take a leave of absence for a little while when your children are born. You may get a few weeks when the baby is first born, but if you want more time with the little one then you are going to need to take a leave of absence at work.
