The modern game of football is generally credited to English schools that charge fees. Under the direction of headmaster Richard Mulcaster, these schools changed football from a mob sport to a team sport. They organized the sport, developed rules and regulations, and finally, incorporated it into the nation's traditions. The end result is that football is the most popular game worldwide. The development of the sport is exciting. It is important to recognize its place in society.
In the 1870s, the game of football became the center of culture, and the sport reflected societal divisions. The Midwest was competing with the East for the top spot in cultural leadership, with Chicago set to become the top contender to New York by the end of the decade. Midwestern schools were a challenge to Eastern schools, and the different rules committees exacerbated the conflict. Eastern teams were averse to mass power plays, while midwestern teams were more accustomed to high-scoring methods and wide-open ends.
The modern game of football was first codified in England shortly after the creation of the Football Association in 1863. FIFA, the governing body for this sport, supervises the FIFA World Cup. The league was expected to bring in more profits for the super-rich owners, however they have no concern about the rest football sport of the football fans. This kind of ruthless behavior is typical of bosses in big businesses and football is no different. The corrupt nature of the game will endure so long as the same kind of parasites have control over the reigns.
Black athletes set records in the sport of football. First African-Americans to play professionally in the game was Charles Follis. He played for in the Toledo group for two years from 1902 to 1906. His teammate, Branch Rickey, would later deport major league baseball as he signed Jackie Robinson, the first black player in the league.
