Champions League winner odds: Manchester City favourites to win final

Manchester City are odds-on favourites to win an all-English Champions League final against Chelsea after their 4-1 aggregate victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-final.

The Citizens were brilliant in both legs of the tie with PSG, with young Englishman Phil Foden running the show at times along with Riyad Mahrez, who scored both goals in a 2-0 second-leg victory.

Chelsea earned a place in the final for the third time with a 2-0 win over Real Madrid in the return leg of their semi-final. Timo Werner and Mason Mount scored the goals on a night when Chelsea created enough clear chances to at least double their winning margin

Manchester City are 4/9 favourites to win the Champions League after beating PSG to set up the third all-English final in the history of the competition against Chelsea.

Like the previous two all-English finals, Manchester United vs Chelsea in 2008 and Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur in 2019, it will be a North West v London affair in Istanbul on 29 May, and the bookies are confident there will be a third straight victory for the North West.

City were excellent in both legs of their semi-final against PSG, recovering from the concession of a first-half goal in Paris to dominate the second half and win 2-1, then scoring in either half of a match they controlled in Manchester to win comfortably. Foden, Mahrez and defender Ruben Dias were the standout performers for Pep Guardiola’s side, who are 4/9 favourites.

Chelsea (7/4) continued to show the improvement an already exciting side under Frank Lampard have made under his successor Thomas Tuchel. After a 1-1 draw in Madrid, they were on top for most of the return at Stamford Bridge and ought to have had more to show for their efforts than the goals by Werner and Mount as their youngsters outran and outplayed the 13-times European kings.

The Blues ended City’s hopes of a quadruple in last month’s FA Cup semi-final and will not be overawed by their opponents or the occasion. The match in Istanbul will also showcase two of the brightest young talents in English football, Foden and Mount, and has the potential to provide a fitting end to a season of great success for Premier League clubs in Europe.
