The USMLE Step 1 Exam -- 7 Tips for Achieving A top-notch Action 1 Score

The USMLE Action 1 quiz is by far the toughest examination you will take throughout your medical career. Whilst it may not necessarily function as the at best or most thought-provoking of all your medical school and/or residency assessments, because it is the first time you will take a medical licensing quiz it will inevitably be a major challenge.

One of the biggest reasons why the failure rate for the Action 1 quiz is so high is simply because as medical students we aren't trained on exactly how to best prepare for this quiz. From the in my medical school days we got the following advice from someone in our school's administration, "Just do as many questions as possible. inch While yes doing questions is important, the advice is too vague and doesn't give you nearly as much coaching and/or direction as most medical students need for success on this test.

Now that I have since taken and aced all of the USMLE assessments, I would like to give you 7 tips that we wish got to me around my first couple years of medical school before I sat for my Action 1 quiz. My top 7 tips for achieving a top-notch score on the USMLE include:

Always make good use of your class time

A lot of students use class time to play games or simply end up wasting time. Make use of this time wisely as you will not get larger sections of time to prepare for your board assessments as now best step 2 ck tutor. Take great notes, include yourself in the class Q&A, and treat the class time as if it is your job to be there (which it is).

Take high-yield class notes and jot them into a study guide (right in class)

This is something I wish I had done from day one of my scientif school career! Keep a survey guide with you at all time, and get accustomed to jotting down any high-yield information you locate during your classes. This will do two things: 1. It can save you hundreds of hours in the later years of your medical school days, and 2. It will leave you with a great study guide come USMLE time.

Review class notes daily (even if just for a few minutes)

Make it a habit to re-read all of your class notes after you leave school. Even if you are tired and can only search through them, that second reading of the day will really go a long way in assisting you remember things come quiz time.

Review your USMLE study guide (plus the notes you wrote in there) at least 1hr each week

Every week you will have new notes added to your study guide, so reserve at least an hour each week to review everything you've written within. This will help you become acquainted with your study guide and better prepare you for your quiz.

Start employing a question bank very early

Have yourself the at best qbank membership available and start doing questions from day 1 of your scientif school career. This will cut-down a lot of time later in your USMLE prep.

Make a separate set of qbank-specific notes

Instead of trying to get the most amount of questions done, strive for quality. Take plenty of notes from each question you do, be a full set of qbank-specific notes, and review them early and often. This trick will get you so prepared for your USMLE Action 1 quiz you will probably need only a couple weeks of serious study before you sit for the test.

Be honest with yourself for how much USMLE-dedicated time you need to prepare

This test is the most important as far as getting a residency program goes, so take an honest look at your current level of readiness and if you need more dedicated time to study, don't be afraid to take it. Some people will pressure you into writing too early, don't give in, as this test only affects you in the long-run.

Do you want a top quality, high-yield USMLE study guide published by someone who have scored well above average on the USMLE Action 1 and Step two CK quiz? Or trying to find a Live USMLE Prep Course?
