Let the Power of Sun Bail You Out in Blackouts - Solar Inverters

These days we are witnessing so many technological evolutions. Life is becoming fast-paced and everything happens in a split of seconds. But as cities world-wide are becoming bigger and densely populated the demand for power is increasing manifold resulting in frequent blackouts. Large-scale power supply failures are becoming increasingly common; not only in bigger cities but in smaller ones too. Solar PV inverters act as a handy solution during power outages. They offer consumers both economic as well as environmental advantages. Also, many governments in developing and developed countries are offering huge subsidies on buying Solar PV inverters to promote eco-friendly sources of power generation.

Why Solar Power Inverters and how they work?

If you notice nowadays, solar power inverters are gaining huge popularity amongst consumers, as they offer saving potential in the long run. Just like the regular inverters that we use in our day to day lives, solar inverters are no different. The main four components of a solar power inverter are: solar panels, a charge controller, battery (or batteries depending on the requirements of backup) and an inverter. The batteries get the power generated from the solar panels through a charge controller.

Based on connectivity, solar power inverters can be classified as off grid or grid connected. An off grid inverter would be a stand-alone inverter just like our regular household inverters. These inverters ideally come in two basic output designs - pure sine wave and modified sine wave. The modified sine wave inverters are cost effective while converting the DC to AC form. However one cannot run sensitive equipments using them. A solar power inverters based on latest pure sine wave technology is a good option as it takes care of the fluctuating DC power and can run sensitive equipments.

In case of a grid connected inverters, the system is connected to power grids in a society or community typically. Just like the conventional power grids supplying power to consumers, a PV (Photovoltaic) Grid's main purpose is to offer power as per the demand. The whole phenomenon is basically a give and take policy. A consumer with a PV Grid Connected Inverter would utilize the power of a grid during power outages (even during days when there is no sunlight, thanks to the surplus) and in return gives the power back to the grid during the time when it is not used.

Choosing the Right Solar Power Inverter

There are many companies that manufacture the inverters, but one must plan in advance before buying it. Power requirements, appliances to be run on the inverter, backup hours are some of the key points to be kept in mind before buying an inverter. It's up to you whether you are planning to install a small solar power system for your home or a big combined solution for your industry site. However, make sure that you choose the right inverter - one that offers highest performance along with maximum flexibility and ease of use.
