2. Undergoing a training period of 8 years before finally debuting with NCT 127Johnny began his training in September 2008 when he was successfully accepted as a trainee  through the SM Global Audition held in Chicago. Johnny had a training period period with EXO members before they made their debut. 
On December 23, 2013, Johnny was introduced to the public through SM Entertainment's pre-debut project called SM Rookies. He was introduced as a member of SM Rookies with Yuta and Ten who are now also members of NCT. During 2013--2016, Johnny tried various things such as appearing in magazine photoshoots, hosting , appearing in variety shows , to being a DJ.Johnny and Doyoung were later announced as additional members in NCT 127 which previously debuted with seven members on July 7, 2016. He officially joined NCT 127 on January 6, 2017 through the mini album NCT #127 Limitless . Until now, Johnny is actively performing with NCT 127 and has just released their third full album in 2021.
