How You Can You Find A Hypnotherapist?

Seeing a hypnotherapist is a new experience for many people. As hypnosis becomes more and more popular, and more people are being referred by their doctors, how to properly work with a hypnotherapist to get the best results becomes of increasing importance to many.

An answer to one of the most common concerns is that a hypnotist has no power over you. A hypnotist has training, skills and tools that will help you improve a problem area in your life. The most important point is to understand that hypnosis is a partnership between you and the trained hypnotist. He or she is a guide into this state of focused concentration where the desired change begins.

This collaboration is built upon on the level rapport and trust you develop with your hypnotherapist. You must feel comfortable and relaxed enough to follow the therapist's instructions without resistance or doubts. This is extremely important because this is the gateway to your entering the deeper states of trance necessary to affect the changes you desire.

The average client who visits a hypnotist is generally a healthy, functioning person who wants to improve a recurring problem area in their life. They have tried to change the problem area on their own, but it just keeps showing up and sabotaging their efforts to make permanent change.

Here is a simple model that explains a typical collaborative experience with a hypnotherapist.

1. Discuss the problem behavior you want to change with honesty and openness.

The client and the hypnotist discuss the history of the problem behavior and what it has cost the client physically, emotionally, mentally and more. Your hypnotist is not there to judgeanxiety hypnotherapist  but to help you overcome obstacles.

Human behavior is driven by the Pain/ Pleasure. We move away from a source of pain or fear (such as physical or emotional pain) and move towards pleasure. Now once we know the source of pain, we can begin to illuminate and expose the subconscious motivators of the client's problem behaviors.

2. Create a strategy for change with your hypnotherapist.

You are an active participant in creating the strategies for the changes you are seeking. If you are not involved or motivated, any changes are short lived and futile. Change comes from within you, not from your hypnotist.

The key here is honest collaboration between you and the hypnotist to create a real plan of change and not a half-hearted attempt at changing the problem.

3. Allow yourself to become more receptive and suggestible to the new strategy.

Hypnosis is a natural state of focused concentration. It helps you increase receptivity to new ideas and verbal suggestion. You experience hypnosis many times each day, such as losing track of time when concentrating on a task, reading a good book or zoning out in front of the computer. And you pass through hypnosis several more times each day just before you fall off to sleep and just after awakening.

In this natural relaxed state of heightened concentration, your mind enters a state of increased suggestibility. At this point, the hypnotist will verbally repeat the important parts of the new strategy as direct suggestions to your subconscious mind. Remember, the source for these suggestions are provided by you. The hypnotist formulates the suggestions in accordance with how your mind best receives the suggestions
