How to Save Money By Comparing Furniture Prices

With furniture warehouses and outlet mega stores popping up all over our suburban landscape, it's clear that to get the best price on your next furniture purchase, you're going to have to do some comparison shopping. Keep reading for 6 great tips that will teach you exactly how to save money by comparing furniture prices.

1. Throw away the catalog.

While catalogs are great for garnering inspiration and new ideas, you're not going to find any hot bargains in a 200-page tome that was printed 3 months ago. Printed catalogs just don't have the daily deals, new items or weekly specials.

2. Get in the car.

Most places have a "furniture district," an area of town with a compare removalists of furniture stores and outlets. If you're looking for a well-priced living room set, it's time to get in the car and actually drive down there.

Online shopping is great, and will be addressed shortly, but when it comes to furniture - the deals are often in the store.

3. Visit at least three retailers.

Instead of buying the first piece of furniture you see, try to get to at least three retailers, from a warehouse outlet to an upper-market store to give you an idea of what's available and the price points that are available. Don't just settle for the Ikea couch that everyone else has.

4. Ask about floor models and discounted items.

Your sales representative wants to make a sale, so if you're honest and tell him or her you're looking for a deal, they'll help you find it. From floor models to slightly damaged or discounted items, you can save a lot of money just by asking.

5. Negotiate.
