Helen McCrory, who made such an indelible impression

Grade II listed Dalton Mills in Keighley dates back to the 19th century.

It was originally used as part of the textiles industry, and since has been featured on location for many TV series, also including The Great Train Robbery and Downton Abbey.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said that 100% of the building is on fire, with photos and video showing the site engulfed in flames

They said that they had sent 20 fire engines had been sent to the scene, along with hose reel jets and an aerial ladder platform.

Fire engines neighbouring brigades have also been sent, with police, ambulance, Yorkshire Water and the Environment Agency also attending.

The blaze broke out at around 2pm this afternoon and quickly tore through the brick building, built in 1869.

A description of its value as a filming location from production company Screen Yorkshire reads: ‘The distinctive mills offer a range of large scale spaces and historic features, including a large courtyard and recently renovated clock tower.

‘It is able to accommodate on site production offices and workshops and has suitable parking for facilities vehicles.

‘Dalton Mills is building a strong reputation as a filming location, thanks to its diverse range of industrial spaces, which offer an historic industrial backdrop as well as set build space, making it ideally suited to period dramas.’

After the failed assassination of the fascist political leader Sir Oswald Mosley, we find Tommy seeking redemption and looking for new opportunities abroad in post-prohibition America. Unfortunately, his enemies have other ideas.

Power-hungry Michael (Finn Cole) and his wife Gina Gray (Anya Taylor-Joy) could pose a threat after their plan to oust Tommy saw them exiled from the Shelby family. Alfie Solomons (a scene-stealing Tom Hardy) is back – though as friend or foe we don’t yet know.

Sadly, actress Helen McCrory, who made such an indelible impression as Aunt Polly, passed away in April 2021. Yet show creator Steven Knight is adamant this season will be the best yet: a fitting, all guns blazing finale featuring an incredible cast.

“Thom Yorke and Johnny Greenwood contributed some original stuff,” director Anthony Bryne told NME. “I’m over the moon about all of that. The music has always been really important historically, and I was really keen to bring a dramatic score into it. We’re using that much more in this season. It’s a much heavier season so the score is taking things in a very different direction.

“It’s always about Tommy and his headspace. That’s what I keep going back to.”

Speaking to NME back in 2019, lead actor Cillian Murphy (who handpicks the music alongside Byrne) told us: “You just know when a song is ‘Peaky’. The artists are outsiders. They have resisted the tyranny of the mainstream, shall we say?”

For this season, Byrne revealed that songs by the likes of Patti Smith, Joy Division and Sinead O’Connor also make an appearance.

“Sinead O’Connor was a big one for me because she’s so fucking talented,” Byrne told NME. “It feels like she’s not part of a conversation at the moment, and she’s got such a body of work that’s amazing. She’s so Peaky but for whatever reason she just slipped through. If you’ve got [show creator] Steven Knight in watching it and he’s in tears, then you know you’ve done the right thing.

“Also Patti Smith is another one. She hasn’t been in Peaky [before], but she should be. It felt so natural for her to be there. That was a big get for us.”

Calvi also returns to pen the score for season six, but this time she’s teamed up with Bad Seeds producer Nick Launay.
