A Course in Miracles is a universal curriculum for spiritual transformation. It is both profoundly spiritual and deeply psychological, offering a step-by-step approach to unwinding the ego thought system.

It consists of a Text, Workbook, and Manual for Teachers. Students typically read these three volumes at their own pace, usually a lesson a day.
Getting Started

For anyone interested in ACIM, the best way a course in miracles to begin is to read and study the Text. Once you get familiar with the philosophies and teachings, start doing the daily Workbook lessons. This is where you will learn to unwind your mind from the ego thought system and the limiting beliefs that hold you back from loving. The ACIM Workbook lessons are very practical, a day by day approach to undoing the ego mind and learning how to forgive.

Another important piece of information to know is that the Course is a self-study curriculum and not a religion. It is taught that Jesus or the Holy Spirit will guide each student individually as they apply the Course’s teachings to their own life situations. The Course itself states that it is a restatement of the core wisdom found in every world religion.

Getting started with the Course can be intimidating because it is very extensive and difficult to understand at first. However, for any sincere student of ACIM there are many resources available that can help them decipher its language and generate healing results in their lives. One such resource is A Course in Miracles Made Easy, a book by Alan Cohen that makes the Course accessible for everyone.

Another helpful resource is the online edition of the ACIM text that contains a search function. You can also find audio recordings of the ACIM readings and commentary from David Hoffmeister. He guides the listener through one section of the Text and a lesson from the Workbook each day. It is an amazing way to experience the profound teachings of A Course in Miracles. Lastly, there are the Supplements to the Text and Workbook, including Psychotherapy: Purpose, Process, Practice and The Song of Prayer, that further expand on the applications of the Course’s teachings.
Text

For those who prefer to work with the Text portion of A Course in Miracles, this unabridged version of the original is printed on high-quality paper and bound in a hard cover that resists stains. The binding is also designed to withstand repeated use. The book is compact and easy to carry: 8" x 5" and less than 1" thick. It is ideal for tossing into a purse or briefcase.

A Course in Miracles is a universal curriculum for spiritual transformation and offers profound teachings along with practical, step-by-step guidance. Its careful structure and intentionality inevitably lead toward the experience of peace that is its primary goal. The Course is a non-denominational approach to a universal theology that uses Christian symbols as a metaphor.

While the text uses Christian terms like "God," Jesus", and "sin," it does not attempt to teach a specific theology or a religion. This approach allows people of any spiritual background or tradition to join the Course in Miracles community and find its message personally meaningful.

The daily ACIM lessons are extremely practical, a day by day approach to unwinding the mind from the ego thought system and releasing limiting beliefs. A powerful addition to the ACIM lessons is David Hoffmeister's commentary. He speaks from Awakened Mind and provides a clear explanation of the lesson for that day.

This podcast is a valuable complement to the Daily Lesson Insights that are available free on the Pathways of Light website. We encourage you to listen to these podcasts regularly. They will enhance your study and help you remember the message of the ACIM lessons.
Workbook

The workbook portion of the guide is comprised of 365 lessons that are intended to be done daily. They are based on the practice of forgiveness and lead to inner peace and the remembrance of God. The lessons are meant to be undertaken in conjunction with the writings within A Course in Miracles, a unique self-study metaphysical thought system. Its language is often poetic and written in blank verse, which has led some to compare it to some of the world’s great literature. It also contains a number of profoundly spiritual insights that are often difficult to understand.

These lessons are designed to help you uncover the blocks that prevent your heart from opening to love. They also teach you how to make changes in your beliefs and thoughts that are blocking the flow of love into your life. Eventually, you will learn how to forgive your own fears and insecurities, as well as those of others.

It is recommended that you do these lessons in order, although there is no need to rush. It is also important to realize that you are learning a habit and that habits are formed by consistency. Therefore, it is best not to take breaks of more than a few days. However, it is possible to repeat a lesson, as the app provides for this.

Each lesson is formatted so that it replaces any unclear references and pronouns with their proper antecedents. In addition, the app provides insightful readings to aid in understanding the lessons. These readings are a combination of the insights of the Pathways of Light staff and additions by other ACIM students. It is recommended that you read these insight pages as you go through the lessons.
Manual for Teachers

David Hoffmeister has a deep understanding of ACIM and teaches from a clear and powerful Presence. He guides the sincere student and teacher through one section of the Text and a lesson from the Workbook each day, followed by a profound commentary. This is a very special set of teachings, offered for the first time in audio form.

The course is very practical, a day by day process of unwinding the ego thought system and releasing limiting beliefs. It is a process of forgiveness, learning to trust in God and let go of judgment, guilt, blame, and fear.

A Course in Miracles teaches that the path is not a religion but an inner journey to find your own spiritual freedom and happiness. It uses Christian symbols, but is different from Christianity in that it uses them almost the opposite way and gives a new meaning to common words like “Son of God.” It also emphasizes that God’s Love is available to all people.

One of the main teachings of A Course in Miracles is that everyone can become a teacher and share the Course principles with others. The Manual for Teachers, which is written in question and answer format, provides answers to some of the questions that a teacher might ask and clarification of terms used throughout the Course.

The purpose of the Manual for Teachers is to assist in this demonstration, which is envisioned as taking two different forms. The first is the role of a healing practitioner, a Course in Miracles version of an Alcoholics Anonymous sponsor. This person would help people with physical illnesses, primarily by teaching them the power of forgiveness. The second type of demonstration is a spiritual shepherd, mentor or guide. This person would guide particular pupils along the Course’s path, helping them to learn all that he knows, until they become teachers themselves.
Supplements

One can't speak of miracles without mentioning A Course in Miracles, often abbreviated to ACIM. It is a universal curriculum that offers profound teachings and step-by-step guidance. Scribed by psychologist Helen Schucman, the self-study course is designed to help you experience a spiritual awakening and genuine fulfillment.

The Course teaches that miracles are the natural expression of love, and that forgiveness is the key to bringing them about. Although the book uses Christian terminology, it is not a religion, and is ecumenical in its approach to spirituality. In fact, the Course is a restatement of the core wisdom found in all world religions.

In the Course's view, miracles occur when true perception transfers from the mind of a giver to the mind of a receiver. This is the opposite of what we usually see when we imagine a miracle. We usually think that a healer channels some kind of semi-physical energy from her body to the patient, and that this energy does the healing. The Course, however, points out that the healer is not actually doing the healing. It is the new perception that shines into the patient's mind and becomes his own, that does the healing.

David Hoffmeister, who is a leading ACIM teacher and author of many books on spirituality, offers an in-depth series of audio lectures and gatherings based on the Text and Workbook lessons of A Course in Miracles. These recordings are available in both video and audio formats, and provide the sincere student with the opportunity to receive the deep teachings of the Course with clarity and depth. Each lesson contains one section of the Text and one from the Workbook, along with a profound commentary from David.
