Hypertrophic scar is a thick raised scar that's an abnormal response to wound healing. They more commonly occur in taut skin areas following skin trauma, burns or surgical incisions. The goal of re-pigmenting a hypertrophic scar is to reduce the visibility of the scar in relation to the adjacent healthy skin. A close examination of the scar and the surrounding skin is required to achieve a good color match. Must be at least 1 year old. This is because premature work on the scar tissue can cause further damage to the skin. The tissue cannot heal sufficiently and is not suitable to proceed with re-pigmentation. In this case, you will be advised of further treatments with a nurse to correct the color or texture of the treatment area.
