'Fans swarmed me during golden age of porn – but my life is so different now'

It’s proving to be difficult for one porn star to stay relevant as the sex industry continues to change.

Daisy Rock is a British award-winning porn star and director but she has recently faded away to obscurity.

The adult performer has been working in the adult entertainment industry for two decades and was once lauded as “the best a fan can get”.

Now her online presence seems to be falling to the wayside as Daisy tries to figure out how to reinvent herself. And these days, being online is crucial for a career in adult entertainment.

Before she ventured into porn, Daisy began dancing professionally at nightclubs, fully clothed at first, once she left school. Then one day when travelling overseas, she met a friend who was an erotic dancer, and before long she got the chance to perform a striptease at a Spearmint Rhino club in Los Angeles.

Gradually, the idea of making her own porn films began to surface, so she started chatting to some of the men she danced for, and agreed to make customised erotic movies for them.

After six months of home-movie-making, Daisy made her debut in the mainstream porn industry and wasted no time launching herself into the business.

She even went on to star in a Playboy film, where she played a dominatrix with a team of slaves.

Daisy used to also occasionally be featured in online interviews and even had her own blog where she discussed her sexcapades.

“I’m always recognised, and it's fun, one time I was out for drinks and a fan said to me, 'oh my God I (masturbated) over you this morning so hard that I came in my own face',” she said in an interview years ago.

“The other embarrassing one is security recognises me at airports and yes they always go for an extra search, and they laugh. Not funny guys, they are naughty.”

But Daisy doesn’t seem to be as prevalent in the industry as she once was.

And in 2012, she was the subject of an indie documentary where she discussed shooting what may have been her last porn movie.

The erotic star hasn’t moved away from the industry altogether however, in an attempt to keep up with an ever-changing landscape, she has created an OnlyFans account.

The account was created in March 2021 and so far uploaded 182 pieces of content and has 2,000 followers.

Sadly her Twitter account, which is also often integral to sex workers, lies dormant, with her last post being on January 3 of this year.

Back in 2013, the brunette bombshell touched on longevity in the industry when she shared her advice to those wanting to become adult entertainers.

“The more you promote yourself and take control of your career the more fans you get, the more producers will want to shoot you and the longer you will last,” she wrote for the blog Luke is Back.

“It is quite unusual for a girl to last just over a year or two as you are being replaced rapidly and once all the producers have shot you they will want to shoot someone else.

“Boys, as long as you are a strong performer and keep moving with the times and taking it up a notch you could have a happy lifelong career for many years.”

This being said, all is not lost, as the adult entertainment is currently in a place where it changes rapidly.

There is a chance Daisy may become as popular as she once was – or maybe she likes having a smaller, loyal fanbase.
