Penn State's quarterback Drew Allar is staying in-state for the start of his NFL career. The Pittsburgh Steelers selected Allar in the third round of the 2026 NFL draft, with the 76th overall pick.

Standing at 6-foot-5 and 235 pounds, the Penn State Nittany Lion quarterback Allar wasn't a shoe in for the draft because of a season-ending broken ankle. Prior to his injury, Allar threw for 1,100 yards and eight touchdowns with a 64.8 completion rate. He broke his ankle scrambling against Northwestern back in Oct. 2025. He had a successful surgery and is recovering well.

The Steelers are waiting on word from quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who may or may not retire ahead of the 2026 NFL season. But, they have 30-year-old Mason Rudolph and 2025 draft pick Will Howard also in their quarterback room. It's unsure what they'll do with the selection of Drew Allar, but a lot seems to ride on whether or not Rodgers will return.
