Hearing Aids
Hearing aids are small electronic devices that you wear in or behind your ear. They are programmed to make the sounds you have difficulty with louder allowing you to listen, communicate, and participate fully in daily activities. A hearing aid can help you hear more in both quiet and noisy situations.
Tinnitus
Tinnitus is the perception of noises in the head and/or ear which have no external source. It derives from the Latin word for ringing and those living with the condition may have to endure a ringing, buzzing, hissing, whistling or other noise. The sensation can be constant or intermittent and it can vary in volume.
Earwax Microsuction
Private ear wax removal by microsuction is the cleanest, fastest and safest way to remove impacted earwax in blocked and waxy ears. The procedure takes 15 minutes and results are instant. Ear wax removal by microsuction involves the insertion of a microtip or Zoellner tube into the External Auditory Meatus (ear canal), along with a sterile plastic canula. Suction is then used and the compacted wax is pulled out of the ear canal.
At The Manchester Hearing Aid Clinic we only perform microsuction we do not recommend syringing. If syringing is done incorrectly it can lead to perforations, infections and damage to the eardrum. The chance of this happening while visualising the eardrum is very low during microsuction. Microsuction always removes deep, compacted or impacted wax. There is also little chance of causing ear infections. There is also less chance of vertigo or dizziness with Microsuction and it can be performed on a perforated ear.
