An electric grill is an electrical household appliance for cooking meat, fish or vegetables. Structurally, it is a grid or relief platform with heating elements. Usually stainless steel, ceramics are used as materials. Modern models have a non-stick coating. The temperature of the working surface reaches 270°C - 400°C, which ensures fast heat treatment of any products. According to the installation method, electric grills are desktop, floor and built-in. But it should be noted that the electric grill, especially open models, requires the installation of a hood.
The main advantage of the electric grill is compactness, safety and convenience. At the same time, the taste of the products is obtained, as when cooking on the grill, but without the need to make a fire, which allows you to use the device in any enclosed space - an apartment, a private house, a garage. Small dimensions allow you to easily transport it anywhere, for example, to the country house or a picnic. If only there was a power source nearby.
Types of electric grill
There are two main types of grill :
Contactless
Products do not come into contact with the heated surface, but rotate near / around it. The simplest example is an electric grill . Instead of skewers in a non-contact grill, special baskets can be used, such devices are called planetary (spin around the heater) and carousel (move around its axis, up / down).
Products are cooked directly on a hot surface. At the same time, one-sided open models are distinguished, two-sided with a lid (grill press), combined. Single-sided contact models are often supplied with a tray that is installed under the grate, and closed ones are made with a non-heated handle for safely lifting the lid. In advanced devices, splash protection is additionally available.
Recently, another type of electric grill is gaining popularity - rakletnitsa . This is an open type device; instead of a grid or platform, a baking sheet with low sides is used. The device is designed for cooking with melted cheese, for example, the Swiss dish "raclette" (which determined the name of the device). Usually a special spatula for mixing is included in the kit.
What can be cooked on an electric grill
An electric grill replaces a pot, frying pan or barbecue. This is an alternative to boiling, frying, baking food in the oven or cooking over an open fire. The versatility of the appliance allows you to cook on it a variety of dishes from different products.
Meat and fish
Most often they are pre-marinated and flavored with spices. With this method of cooking, products retain a maximum of useful substances, acquire a great taste, an additional plus is an aesthetic appearance that is not spoiled by cooking in a saucepan or frying in oil.
Seafood such as squid, shrimp, squid, oysters, mussels are considered delicacies and are successfully used as independent dishes or as part of salads. Grilled seafood will diversify the table and delight you with new tastes.
Vegetables, mushrooms
Traditionally, potatoes, eggplants, zucchini, peppers, carrots, onions, champignons are used. Soaked in their own juice, smoked by the resulting smoke, these products turn out to be tasty, healthy and beautiful. They can be cooked whole or sliced, with or without marinade.
BBQ grill with lid- this category includes the same American-type barbecue grill with a spherical shape. This design immediately pops into our minds when we imagine an American backyard. It usually has a brazier that resembles a frying pan, over which a grate is placed. This device appeared not so long ago, the date of its invention is considered to be 1952, when a simple Chicago welder George Stephen made a cover from a sea buoy and adapted it to a brazier. Prior to this, Americans used brick stoves, but they were quite difficult to install, non-mobile and expensive, besides, the wind constantly blew out the fire, and the ash fell on food. Since then, this spherical shape design has been considered a classic in the United States. The lid has ventilation holes for smoke removal, and blowing is carried out through the holes in the bottom of the brazier. Source: https://grillprofy.de/
