The Kedaketta trek is probably one of the most beloved and sought after winter treks in India. The trek can be completed by experienced or amateur trekkers. Hence, when trekking in Himalayas during monsoon season, make sure that you carry warm clothes and woolly hats to keep you warm. It is suggested that trekkers should not visit Himalayan villages during monsoon as they get very cold.

You will trek in the mountains with very moderate temperatures during the second part of your trek. As soon as you get to the Kanchenjunga base, it starts warming up. It is possible that snow may melt on your way to Kanchenjunga. You should be able to bear the freezing temperatures if this happens. It would make it too uncomfortable at night. One of the best characteristics of this route is that it provides trekkers with the opportunity to witness a special seasonal feature of Himalayas known as "icefall". An accumulation of snow on the Himalayan higher slopes as a result of the warm summer is called Icefall.
