A Poisonous Cloud Swirls Over Titan's South Pole

Titan is the only moon in our Solar System that is blanketed by a dense, obscuring ayurvedic medicine for long lasting in bed  . The largest moon of the ringed, gas-giant planet Saturn, Titan is a frozen, twilight world, whose strange and tormented surface, slashed by weird liquid hydrocarbon rivers and seas, is shrouded by an enveloping, obscuring, orange hydrocarbon fog. Planetary scientists believe that this mysterious large moon, haunted by clouds of frozen methane, in many ways resembles the way our Earth once was, very long ago, when our Solar System was young. Titan keeps its secrets well, hiding them beneath its impenetrable orange veil. Nevertheless, in October 2014, planetary scientists announced that they had unveiled one of Titan's well-kept secrets--a gigantic, poisonous cloud that hovers menacingly over the south pole of this strange moon-world.

Analyzing data obtained from NASA's Cassini mission, planetary scientists discovered this toxic cloud after Titan's atmosphere had cooled dramatically. This giant vortex harbors frozen particles of the poisonous compound hydrogen cyanide (HNC).

"The discovery suggests that the atmosphere of Titan's southern hemisphere is cooling much faster than we expected," commented Dr. Remco de Kok in an October 1, 2014 NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) Press Release. Dr de Kok, who is of Leiden Observatory and SRON Netherlands Institute for Space Research, is lead author of the study published in the October 1, 2014 issue of the journal Nature. The JPL is in Pasadena, California.

Like our own planet, Titan experiences changing seasons. As it travels in its 29-year orbit around our Star along with its ringed-parent-planet, each season lingers for approximately seven Earth-years. The most recent seasonal change occurred back in 2009 when winter turned into spring in Titan's northern hemisphere, and summer turned to autumn in the southern hemisphere.
