A Course in Miracles is an acclaimed spiritual guide that teaches forgiveness as the path to peace. But the lofty spiritual principles in this three-volume book are often a challenge for newcomers to grasp.

This Combined Volume contains all the writings that Helen Schucman, the Course's Scribe, authorized to be printed. It includes the complete Preface, Text, Workbook for Students, Manual for Teachers and Supplements to the Text: Psychotherapy: Purpose, Process & Practice, and The Song of Prayer.
The Text

Authored by Helen Schucman and edited by William Thetford, A Course in a course in miracles Miracles is the most widely read spiritual textbook of our time. But its sweeping teachings are often daunting and even confusing. Alan Cohen has been a student of ACIM for 30 years and has created this unique guide, which takes the big ideas of A Course in Miracles and gives them shape and context for everyday living.

The book is comprised of three separate but related parts: the Text, the Workbook for Students and the Manual for Teachers. The Text explains the Course's theory; the Workbook offers 365 daily lessons designed to change perception; and the Manual, written in question-and-answer format, provides answers to many likely questions. Together, the three components form a complete curriculum.

A Course in Miracles is a self-study system of "spiritual psychology" that teaches the way to universal love and peace by undoing guilt through forgiveness. Its life-changing principles have transformed the minds and hearts of millions of people worldwide, transforming fear into love and fostering healing and sanctification of relationships. It is presented in terms of traditional Christianity, but its underlying ontology is nonsectarian and universal.

This Combined Edition includes the Text, Workbook for Students and Manual for Teachers in one volume and also contains two valuable Supplements to the Course: Psychotherapy: Purpose, Process and Practice and The Song of Prayer. It is the only edition authorized by its Scribe, Helen Schucman, to be published by the Foundation for Inner Peace. It is also the only edition to include all the material in its original order, including a number of chapters that were rearranged and placed in different sections by editing for previous versions.
The Workbook

A Course in Miracles (ACIM) has changed the lives of millions of people. Its principles lead to peace and inner freedom where conflict and fear once prevailed. It combines profound spiritual teachings with far-reaching and practical psychological insights. Its three volume curriculum consists of a Text, Workbook for Students, and Manual for Teachers. The Course proposes a revolutionary shift in perception, one that allows you to recognize love where fear was and remember God where doubt has been.

The Combined Volume of A Course in Miracles includes the Text, Workbook for Students, and Manual in their original sequence. It also includes two Supplements to the Course, Psychotherapy: Purpose, Process and Practice and The Song of Prayer, which are extensions of the Course’s principles and provide practical applications of its teachings. It also contains approximately forty-five thousand words that were edited out in the original published editions of the Course, either in its main body or in appendices.

This reprint of the Combined Volume is an attempt to restore these words and to allow ACIM to reach its intended audience. Extensive footnotes are used to clarify difficult passages, identify unclear pronouns, define psychological terms, point out allusions to things in the general culture, and to list Course references and Bible references. Thirty-three cameo essays comment on personal guidance given by the source of the material to the scribes, which were deemed too personal for inclusion in the Course itself.

While the language of A Course in Miracles is that of Christian Christianity, its underlying ontology is universal and non-denominational. It emphasizes that it is but one version of a universal curriculum, and that “all paths lead to God in the end.” It offers a universal spiritual teaching with a deep healing message.
The Manual

A Course in Miracles is an acclaimed spiritual guide for finding peace in relationships and inner peace in our relationship with God. The life-changing Course is a three-volume curriculum consisting of the Text, Workbook for Students, and Manual for Teachers. It teaches that the way to universal love and peace is through undoing guilt by forgiving others, and it focuses on healing and sanctifying relationships. Although the language of the Course is that of traditional Christianity, it expresses a non-sectarian, nondenominational spirituality.

Since its publication in 1976, millions of readers have recognized in its words truths they have never heard before but somehow seem to have always known. In the process of editing for publication, however, roughly forty-five thousand words were edited out. This edition is the only one to restore most of this lost material, drawing on original shorthand notes transcribed by the Course's Scribe, Helen Schucman.

Extensive footnotes clarify difficult passages, identify unclear pronouns, define psychological terms, point out allusions to things in the general culture, and list biblical references. Thirty-three cameo essays comment on personal guidance given to the scribes (Helen Schucman and William Thetford) that was deemed too private for the main text but is nonetheless helpful in understanding the Course's teachings.

Combined into one volume, this edition contains all that the Course's Scribe authorized to be published, and includes the valuable Supplements to A Course in Miracles: Psychotherapy: Purpose, Process, and Practice and The Song of Prayer, which are not available in any other editions of the Course. In addition, this edition contains the first four chapters of the Text in their original wording, and re-incorporates much of the material that was edited out in the Foundation for Inner Peace version.
The Clarification of Terms

The original edition of A Course in Miracles consists of the Text, Workbook for Students and Manual for Teachers. It was published by the Foundation for Inner Peace in 1975 and is used worldwide in thousands of study groups. The 1992 copyrighted version (along with the preface, text supplements and two additional supplements) is based on the original manuscript and edited by Kenneth Wapnick. It is available in a hardcover and softcover (9’’X6’’) edition.

Other versions of the Course are available, but they do not contain the same teachings or include the same content as the original edition. Some of these are called the 'Original Edition', 'Unedited Edition' or 'Urtext'. These books often contain unsanctioned material from a first or second draft of the text which Helen Schucman and William Thetford deleted because they did not believe it to be part of the final Course.

A Course in Miracles is not meant to be read from beginning to end in one sitting, but rather should be studied in small sections over time. This allows for a more in-depth and personal connection to the book, while facilitating the healing process that takes place with each reading. Some people find the language of the course to be difficult and figurative, and they need help in understanding its meaning and character.

The contrast between the two contrasting editions of the Course-one professional bound, elegantly designed and authenticated by the original publisher and the other incomplete, passed from hand to hand and repeatedly photocopied-is indicative of a fundamental conflict within modern spirituality and the nature of religious organization. The former tries to establish its religious legitimacy through rigorously controlled and highly centralized publication practices, while the latter generates its own organic authority through the very circulation of the book that makes up the interconnected community of readers.
The Song of Prayer

This Combined Volume contains in one convenient and attractive edition all of the writings that A Course in Miracles, its Text, Workbook for Students, and Manual for Teachers, plus two Supplements to the Course: Psychotherapy: Purpose, Process, and Practice and The Song of Prayer. This is the only edition that Helen Schucman, the Course's Scribe, has authorized to be published.

The Song of Prayer is a beautiful book of short readings and meditations that unpack the meaning of forgiveness in the context of love and service. In a very natural way, the book draws you into the experience of the love and light of God that is the only true reality.

A comprehensive introduction to the teachings of the Course, presenting its central principle that healing is simply growth in forgiveness. Beginning with an original cosmological myth, this booklet also discusses the non-dualistic metaphysics of the Course and its view of special relationships.

Forgiveness and Jesus discusses many of the misunderstandings of the Bible that have interfered with the study of the Course and its teachings about forgiveness. It also provides a thorough discussion of the non-dualistic metaphysics of Christianity, and its views about time, life and death.

This deluxe edition of the book features all 365 Workbook for Students lessons reproduced on heavy-duty 3-3/8" x 4-7/8" cards that allow you to easily carry and refer to the lessons throughout your day. Also included is a CD for Windows or Diskettes for DOS, with the search program that enables you to find every word in the three volumes of the Course as well as the two pamphlets. All pages are clearly referenced by book, chapter, section, paragraph, and sentence number. A Concordance is also provided, showing the location of every major word in the Course.
