Thiago Silva support Chelsea in pursuit of Neymar

Thiago Silva is eager to welcome his close friend Neymar to Chelsea amid the uncertainty surrounding the winger's future at Paris Saint-Germain.

Chelsea are one of the few clubs in the world that could afford Neymar and they are in the market for a winger, prompting his international team-mate to express his desire to play alongside his friend at club level.

Neymar's future at Paris Saint-Germain continues to make headlines as the French side look set to embark on a new direction focused on Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi.

The Brazilian appears to have received the message, as word of his displeasure with club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has leaked.

As a result, a divorce is possible, with Chelsea now emerging as a possible landing spot for Neymar.

A move to Stamford Bride would allow him to reunite with compatriot Thiago Silva, who also left the Parc des Princes to continue his career.

The move certainly worked out for the defender, who won the Champions League with the London Club in 2021.

"They didn't offer me anything, not even one euro," Silva said at the time. "Nothing at all. It was very annoying.

"They had three months to plan my farewell, but nothing was done.

"I wasn't there for one season or a few months, I was there for eight-years as a captain who lifted many trophies for the club.

"I deserved much more respect than that. The same thing happened to [Edinson] Cavani."

Now, Thiago Silva is doing all that he can to bring Neymar closer to Chelsea.

At a recent event in Recife, the defender didn't hide his wishes.

"He [Neymar] has to join Chelsea," Thiago Silva said. "If it happens, it will be the best thing. Neymar needs no comment.

"So far, I don't know anything, but I hope it comes to fruition."

Neymar joined PSG from Barcelona in the summer of 2017 for a fee of 222 million euros.

What did Thiago Silva say about Neymar?

"He has to go to Chelsea," Silva, who previously played with Neymar at PSG before joining Chelsea, told Globo. "If he is about to leave [PSG], then he must go there.

"If it happens, then the expectation is the best possible one. We don't even need to talk about Neymar's ability. Besides that, he is a super friend.

"I hope this happens instead of only being something on the news, but I don't know anything about it."

Why might Neymar leave PSG?

Neymar was the subject of heavy criticism from PSG supporters as the club failed once again to lift the Champions League.

Neymar’s whose future is still being debated has only played club football in his native country, Brazil, Spain and now France. A move to the Premier League will be a new challenge for the most expensive footballer, yet.

Silva who was teammate with Neymar at PSG before he came to England has won the Champions League that has eluded the French champions even with the array of stars the club parades.

“He [Neymar] has to go to Chelsea. If it happens, it will be for the best.

“He needs no comments. So far, I don’t know anything, but I hope it comes to fruition.”

Just a year after signing a contract extension with Paris Saint-Germain, Neymar's time with the club is shrouded in doubt, but with no clear exit strategy.

The Brazilian's contract, which runs until 2025, will automatically extend to 2027 on July 1 as per L'Equipe, and as a result, the French giants are looking for a transfer fee of 220 million euros in order to let him go.

This comes after the Brazilian bet on the French side five years ago, when he became the most expensive signing in football history after joining from Barcelona for 222 million euros.

He soon regretted it and held talks with Real Madrid and Barcelona, but he had no way out, and as a result, he signed a new contract.

Worth 45 million euros net per season, his annual income, according to Forbes, is around 90 million euros, behind only to Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi.

As of July 1, Mbappe will surpass all three.

No unnecessary luxuries

Since he was a young starlet, Neymar has been a money-making machine. However, he isn't afraid to push the limits and enjoy life.

That's why when Nasser Al-Khelaifi stated last week that the time of waste at PSG was over, and that some players would have to move on, his comments included Neymar.

Al-Khelaifi has protected Neymar, sometimes going above the rules of the dressing room in order to do so, but he now believes the time has come to move on.

Those who live with Neymar say the source of his problems are his injuries, which prevent him from training regularly.

Although his footballing ability is beyond question, his physical conditioning isn't.

Although Neymar has always been well received in the dressing room, it's clear that PSG, or Al-Khelaifi more specifically, no longer believe he is the start of the team.

That mantle has been taken by Mbappe, with Messi alongside him.

It remains to be seen how that will play out in Christophe Galtier's dressing room, provided the team can solve their ongoing issue with Mauricio Pochettino.
