App vs Browser Advantages

I’ve noticed that some mobile services are available in several formats, and I’m never completely sure whether installing an application is actually better than using a browser. What advantages would you expect from a dedicated betting application? Would faster access, smoother navigation, saved preferences and notifications be enough reasons to install one, or would you want several additional features before making the switch?
